RE: Georgia DNR to Close Some State Parks and Historic Sites

We live in North Georgia and have found that our favorite camping venues have been Georgia State Parks. Once you have stayed in one...private commercial campgrounds just can't compare! The list I saw of the parks that are closing are not any we have visited, but I'm sure many families enjoy them. I know there are better ways to accomodate the State's Budget without affecting anyone directly! I will be contacting the State Park Website as well. See "Our Camping Photos" below of just a few Georgia State Parks we have visited over the past two years! Happy Camping!

I have not been able to find a list. Which parks did you see on the list? Thanks

RE: Fall Rally for GA'RVers at Twin Oaks RV Resort, Nov 14,15

I think we are planning to bring Brunswick Stew for the Saturday evening meal.
Speaking of fruit, the other day our daughter told our granddaughter that before she could have another bite of fruit, she would have to eat some of her chocolate brownie. We could not believe that a female child relative of Junnie and Andrea would have to be bribed to eat anything chocolate.

RE: New PUP - First Trip

DW and I had a PUP for over 6 years and had some great times. Even took a 3 week 7000 mile trip. It was wonderful.
Have fun camping.

RE: Does it get any better than this?

The only thing that I know of to make it better would be for my TT to be in the picture. Looks great and I am glad you had a great time.

RE: Just back from Alaska/Canada

Glad you had a great adventure. We have driven, so far, + 13,500 this year, traveling from TN to CA, North through OR & WA, the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Did you drive the Top of the World Hwy to Chicken?
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca. Yes they did go to Chicken. It was on day 22 of their adventures. They have a nice blog of their trip.

RE: For those of us who were unable to camp this weekend...

Thanks I needed that. We have not been camping since late June when we took off to the Georgia Mountains. I will be posting all winter about our camping trips, but it is just too hot to camp here in Georgia in the Summer. The temps are finally coming down a few degrees and we hope to be out there in a couple of weeks. Retirement will be nice so that we can be reverse snowbirds and head north for the summer.

RE: Ok I need some advise...

My thoughts are why are you trading RVs if yours is in mint condition? I guess it is the way we are, but DW and I keep our vehicle and campers for ages to get our monies worth out of them.

Junnie and I will do French Toast for breakfast again. We have not yet decided on the evening meal.
We are also trying to get some more folks to attend. Junnie has a school teacher friend that she is inviting that just bought a PUP and I have a friend from work that I am trying to get to come.

RE: Suggestions for Mt Rushmore and badlands area.....

DW and I went there several years ago. We stayed in the Badlands National Park and at Custer State Park. I just checked the weather channel and if you can do without hookups than I would stay in National Park. The highs for next week are in the low seventies and lows around 50. That is for Wall, SD, so the temps in the park should be about the same. If you desire hookups then go to the KOA in Interior. It is just a few miles out of the park. I do recommend not trying to visit the Badlands from the Blackhills, you will spend to much time traveling.
Have a great trip. We enjoyed ours so much, that we are planning to go back next year.

RE: Stupid things we have seen....

I need to get out more often. I only have one qualifying story and it does not come up to the level of the ones above. DW and I saw a PUP take off with one of its stabilizing jacks down. Of course it hit the pavement and broke off. He left so fast he had no idea that it happened.

RE: Heed the signs..humor

Very funny:B. It really makes you wonder why they would have to place a sign for that:h
The same reason that some window car shades have a notice to remove before driving.

RE: Question for RV'ers

I agree with everyone. There are folks that stay in their RVs that do not come out. I also agree that if that is what they want to do then who am I go be concerned.

RE: re: Friday night's forum service

This morning, I could not get on using Trailer Life or Woodalls. I had to use RV.net which I have quit using because it was giving me the most trouble.
Since the forum is free, even with its problems, it is one of the best bargains around.

RE: From Pop Up to New Travel Trailer

Congratulation. DW and I went from a PUP to TT 3 years ago, right before gas really took off. While we liked using less gas, we enjoy the TT much more and we go more often. Not only is set up easier, we find that we are going times that we would not have gone if we had the PUP. There were times that we would have stayed home because of a 40-50 percent chance of rain, but with the TT we go. It is nice to sit out under the awning of our TT when raining (we do have to put it up if the winds are bad). The PUP's awning was just to small and also you do not get cabin fever as bad in a TT because of the extra room.
Have fun camping.

RE: Caravan tours of Alaska and Canada

We have some friends that have just completed their Alaska Caravan trip. I PMed them about your request. Hopefully they will get with you shortly and let you know how their trip went.
You may also soon get advise from others that say they would not take a caravan trip, that they want the independence to go when and where they want to go. It is up to you do decide what is best for you.

RE: Camping nights per year

DW and I have camped 44 nights so far this year and we hope to have around 26 more. We feel that is enough to justify the TT, but it is still less than we want to camp. Work just keeps getting in the way of our camping.

RE: On The Road Again!!!! Yahoooooo!!!

It is not the most wonderful time of the year here in Central Georgia. We have not been camping since June, when we took a trip the the North Georgia mountains. It has been very warm. This weekend the highs were suppose to be about 90 so we were going to sneak off to Georgia Veteran State Park. Then there were just too much uncertainty about how FAY was going to effect our weather. While a good ways off from us, we still may get a good deal of rain. DW and I decided to stay home and pretend we are camping. We have even talked about sleeping one night in "camp driveway". It is a place we have never tried.
Hope you and DH have a great vacation.

RE: Wall Drug, South Dakota, I-90

DW and I love what we call the odd ball things. We have stop to see the Worlds Tallest Thermometer in Baker CA, the worlds largest free municipal swimming in Garden City KS (the kids refused to get out of the car for this one), the worlds largest hand dug well, and so forth.
DW has seen the Corn Palace once, but I have seen it several time. I too enjoy seeing the new mural. DW and I have even discussed work kamping at Wall Drug for one summer at I retire. It is a tourist trap, but sometimes tourist traps can be fun.
